Still growing, 4000 miles and 60 people later

As 2019 presses on, we’re reminded that our 10th birthday is only just over a year off – and that we’ve come a long way since Entura was founded. Not just in terms of progress, but also geographically…

Though we’re proud to be a British company, Entura actually began life over 4000 miles away, in an Indian farmhouse. Our founder, Elliott, had travelled out to meet with Barry James (chairman of our board of directors) to talk about piracy and a possible joint venture with some Indian friends.

However, after developing the initial business idea quite a bit, it became clear that Barry and Elliott’s vision far outstripped their friends’, and they parted ways. But fast forward a few weeks, and Entura had formally set up shop back in the UK – in a spare room in Barry’s London home. After a couple of years, our CEO Michael joined the team, and Entura graduated to Barry’s attic. Then back downstairs to a different room. And plenty of change ensued as we found our feet as a business.

Elliott and Michael soon upped sticks and moved Entura to serviced offices near Caledonian Road: Our first HQ, and the predecessor to our glorious North London Office, where you can find us today.

We’ve been in these offices for over a year now, and the last year, in particular, has been pretty extraordinary. Since moving into our new HQ we’ve almost doubled our headcount, from 31 to 60. We’ve got new board members, new clients, and new projects in the pipeline. We’re evolving and expanding quickly, but we’re not planning to slow down.

In fact, we’re aiming to add fuel to the fires. And it’s people that make up that fuel, driving our continued growth and development. So we want the best people, to help us reach the next stage on our journey.

That’s why we offer a tempting, competitive package to all prospective employees. There are the standard benefits, like a pension and a good holiday allowance, but also healthcare, long term service awards, and more. Our culture ensures our offices are a fun place to work too. We’ve got yoga, football, free daily breakfast and fruit on offer, as well as regular social gatherings and Friday drinks at our own bar to cap off every week.

For us, company culture is paramount. We pride ourselves on encouraging an open, supportive, non-judgemental environment. We’re not big on hierarchy or bureaucracy, but what we are big on is finding the right fit for our team. Of course, we love highly-skilled people, but hiring a good egg is often more important to us than that extra bit of expertise. So, check out our vacancies – we can always train an enthusiastic new joiner with the right mindset. You invest yourself with us, and we’ll always take your development seriously.

Many companies that grow like we have can become a bit ‘corporate’, but that’s not our plan. We’re already a corporation (technically), but we’ve carefully avoided acting like a humdrum drone factory. Our culture remains strong and something we’re incredibly proud of, and we don’t see why we should ever have to sacrifice it to ‘get ahead’ in business terms.

Entura is what it is because of the people who work here. Our question to you is: could you be one of them?
