What we’re looking for
As the newest member of our ever-expanding engineering team this role will help to lead the team to design, build and deliver the highest quality proprietary software. This is a ‘hands-off’ role with the focus on leadership rather than coding. You will drive adoption of good practices, both technical and process orientated, and set a culture of continuous improvement. You will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the team, and recruitment.
As the Software Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for technical leadership and delivery of our internal software systems. You will be working with cross-functional teams to ensure the delivery of our product roadmap. You will have line management responsibility of the software engineering team and be expected to recruit, coach, mentor, evaluate and performance manage those engineers. You will help your team organise their work and supervise engineering deliverables.
We expect you to have a technical background, with some experience, or a strong understanding of:
Git (or other source control)
Kubernetes/Docker (or other containerisation/virtualisation platforms)
A background in OO coding (e.g. go, Java, C++, python, etc)
Agile/lean working practices

This person will need to be able to learn from experience and drive process improvement in order to improve quality, predictability and efficiency of the team.
Drive adoption of best practices around software development, and adherence to architectural standards.
The effective use of communication and collaboration to achieve results and Leading engineers in their efforts to develop product and implement technical products
Understand and use analytical methods to exercise judgement
Support your team to ensure successful and timely delivery of products/features
Driving recruitment activities for the team, and involved in interviewing for technical expertise so that we hire great people
Supervise training and development of software engineering staff
Must have prior experience working in a Software Development Management position
Must have a proven track record of managing a team in their day-to-day performance, and mentoring and growing small teams of Software Engineers
Experience of working for and in a rapidly-growing fast paced company
